LOCAL SINGER READY TO MAKE HER MARK
Danita Lynn is: a local girl with deep country roots making a mark through her love of music. ... “I would write songs as I was out cutting hay in the field,” Danita said, who dropped the Lynn from her name to avoid typecasting as just a country singer. “I found I just had a lot of time to think when I was out on the tractor and it came easier than sitting in front of a piece of paper.”  These days, Danita is belting out rockin-country covers and some of those tractor-originals in front of paying crowds across northern Alberta. And she recently won a battle of the bands contest at the River Cree Casino, beating out the other contenders and won a paid gig and a regular spot on the performing roster at the venue.
“I come from a very musical family, my mother plays the fiddle and my brothers were always in bands, but I was a bit of a late bloomer,” Danita said. “I’d always listen to the family play music. But I was extremely shy, almost to the point of it being a phobia.”  After decades of hiding in the musical closet, she finally pushed herself to sing at the Homemade Jam at Pow Wow Days in 1999.  “That’s how I got my feet wet,” Danita said. ... After that first taste of the stage, she was hooked. She played in bands locally before scoring a gig as a harmony vocalist for country-singer Priscilla Morin.  She later opened for big-name acts like Aaron Pritchett, Prairie Oyster, Emerson Drive, and Grand Ole Opry entertainer George Hamilton IV.  Then she let her powerful pipes be the focus, joining country-rock band Sweet Tequila as the lead singer. They recorded an album in Nashville in 2007 and toured extensively through western Canada.  But the hectic performing lifestyle took its toll, and Danita left Sweet Tequila after four and a half years of non-stop traveling.  Now, after a couple of years to regroup and focus on her own music, she is looking to get back into the scene as a solo artist again. ... “I’m going for it,” Danita said. “My love for music never left and I’m excited to see what will happen.”

"DANITA - MAKING ALL OF THE RIGHT MOVES
Danita is "Danitamite". Her diminutive stature has absolutely no affect on her ability to "belt-out" any musical number (regardless of how challenging it may be). Her power-vocal persona rivals any I have had the pleasure of hearing. Country Divas (from Martina McBride to Miranda Lambert) would all feel honored to hear their material so deftly covered by this talented Singer. Danita's stellar presentation of well known hits was complimented by the rock-solid rhythm section that shared the stage with her. Great harmonies, teamed with professional musicianship allowed Danita the comfort she deserved to offer up song after song with near-flawless execution. The band came out of the starting gate firing on all eight cylinders and fed off of this intensity combined with the hoots, hollers and whistles of the enthusiastic crowd of her new found fans. Good job Danita, you are definitely making all the right moves. "

"Danita, an Edmonton based singer/songwriter makes an impressive debut with this collection of all original tunes. The lady shows a real gift for songwriting with creative ideas and delivers the songs with the right amount of gusto when needed, and the right amount of smoothness when called for. For vocal comparison purposes, think somewhere between Patty Loveless and Terri Clark, with a touch of Linda Rondstadt in the mix. The album’s opening track, title tune Wild Ride, is a chuggin’ piece of music that get’s you primed nicely for a solid mix of bounce tunes and lullaby's. While the album opened with an appropriate burst of energy, it closes just as dramatically with the inspirational song We Must Believe (in the Power of Love). Nice book-ending sequencing.. "
